A plan at a steady return, not a forecast; crypto does not grow evenly, and fees, cess and TDS are not included. To find the monthly amount for a rupee goal with a yearly step-up, use the Crypto Monthly Investment Calculator.
The goal is grown by inflation to the rupees it will cost then, and your plan is projected month by month to see if it gets there.
Short answers on planning a crypto investment towards a goal.
It checks whether your plan reaches your goal, and if not, what would. Say you want ₹25,00,000 in today’s money in 10 years, have ₹2,00,000 invested and add ₹15,000 a month, expecting 12% a year. With 6% inflation the goal will cost ₹44,77,119.24 by then. Your plan reaches ₹39,81,707.99, so you are short by ₹4,95,411.26.
Because prices rise. A goal you can price today, such as a car, a deposit on a home or a year of fees, will cost more by the time you reach it. At 6% inflation, ₹25,00,000 today becomes ₹44,77,119.24 in 10 years. Planning for the rupee figure alone would leave you about ₹20 lakh short in real terms.
The table shows four separate ways, each with everything else as you entered it. In the example you could add ₹2,211.30 a month (₹17,211.30 in all), or put ₹1,59,509.17 more in today, or earn 13.99% a year instead of 12%, or wait 1 year 3 months longer. A mix of smaller changes works too.
Then the table shows how much room you have. With ₹20,000 a month instead of ₹15,000, the plan reaches ₹51,01,887.43, ₹6,24,768.19 more than needed. You would reach the goal with a yearly return of 9.73%, which leaves a cushion if crypto does worse than you hope.
That you want the goal in hand after selling and paying India’s flat 30% tax on the growth. Tax takes a large slice: in the example the plan reaches ₹33,87,195.59 after tax, ₹10,89,923.65 short, and closing the gap takes ₹5,652.39 more a month. The 4% cess, 1% TDS and fees are not included.
No one knows. Crypto can rise or fall by more than half in a year, so a plan that only works at a high return is fragile. Try a cautious rate and see how far short you are, and look at the return-needed figure: the lower it is, the safer the plan.
