A steady return for comparison, not a forecast; crypto can fall as well as rise. To see uneven years, use the Crypto Compound Growth Calculator.
The lump sum, less any buy fee, grows at the yearly return for the whole period.
Short answers on investing a lump sum in crypto.
What a single amount invested in crypto could grow to if it earned a steady yearly return. ₹5,00,000 left for 10 years at 15% a year grows to ₹20,22,778.87, about 4.05 times what you put in. After 30% tax on the ₹15,22,778.87 growth you would keep ₹15,65,945.21.
Because no one knows what crypto will return, and a single number can look more certain than it is. The table shows the same ₹5,00,000 over 10 years at returns from −20% to 50% a year: it could end anywhere from ₹53,687.09 to ₹2,88,32,519.53. Your own rate is marked, so you can see how much the result depends on it.
At 15% a year, about 4.96 years. A quick rule is 72 divided by the yearly return: 72 ÷ 15 gives 4.8. If you enter a target, the calculator shows the time to reach that instead; ₹5,00,000 needs about 16.48 years to reach ₹50,00,000 at 15%.
What the final value would buy at today’s prices. At 6% inflation a year, ₹20,22,778.87 in 10 years is worth about ₹11,29,509.15 today. India’s retail inflation has mostly run between about 4% and 7% a year over the past decade.
A little, and it grows with the money it would have earned. A 0.5% fee on ₹5,00,000 is ₹2,500, but the final value after 10 years at 15% is ₹10,113.90 lower: ₹20,12,664.97 instead of ₹20,22,778.87. To check the fee on a trade, use the Crypto Spot Trading Fee Calculator.
It assumes you sell everything at the end and pay India’s flat 30% tax on the growth, plus 4% cess, with no tax on a loss. The growth is the final value less the full lump sum, fee included. The 1% TDS on the sale is not included. For the full tax on a sale, use the India Crypto Tax Calculator.
Investing all at once puts all the money to work straight away, which does better when prices rise; spreading it out lowers the risk of buying everything at a high. To compare the two with real prices, use the Crypto DCA vs Lump Sum Calculator. To add money every month, use the Crypto Monthly Investment Calculator.
