A plan at a steady return, not a forecast; crypto does not grow evenly, and fees and TDS are not included. For a starting amount plus a fixed monthly amount, use the Crypto Investment Calculator.

How it is calculated

Each month’s amount goes in at the start of the month, and everything grows at a steady monthly rate that matches the yearly return.

  • Monthly growth rate = (1 + yearly return) raised to the power of 1 ÷ 12, minus 1
  • Each month = (value so far + that month’s amount) × (1 + monthly growth rate)
  • Step-up = the monthly amount rises by the yearly increase at the start of each new year
  • Monthly amount for a goal = the amount that makes the final value equal the goal, with what you already have counted in
  • Goal after tax = final value − 30% of the growth equals the goal
  • Cost of waiting a year = the same plan started one year later, with one year less to grow

Frequently asked questions

Short answers on planning a monthly crypto investment.

It works out a monthly plan from either end. Set a goal, such as ₹10,00,000 in 5 years, and it finds the monthly amount needed. Or set a monthly amount and see what it could grow to. At 15% a year, ₹10,00,000 in 5 years needs ₹11,449.24 a month; you put in ₹6,86,954.14 and growth makes up the other ₹3,13,045.86.

Raising the monthly amount by a set percentage each year, usually as your income grows. With a 10% step-up, the same ₹10,00,000 goal needs ₹9,629.00 a month in the first year, rising to ₹14,097.81 a month in the fifth. You start lower and put in a little more in total, ₹7,05,431.73, because more of it goes in later and has less time to grow.

Because you lose both a year of payments and a year of growth on everything else. To reach ₹10,00,000 in 4 years instead of 5 at 15%, you need ₹15,459.51 a month instead of ₹11,449.24, ₹4,010.27 more each month. Going the other way, ₹10,000 a month for 5 years grows to ₹8,73,420.75, but started a year later it reaches ₹6,46,851.19.

That the goal is what you want in hand after selling and paying India’s flat 30% tax on the growth, plus 4% cess. To be left with ₹10,00,000, the plan above needs ₹12,635.92 a month, growing to ₹11,03,647.70 before tax. The 1% TDS on each sale and exchange fees are not included.

Yes. Enter it as already invested and it grows alongside the monthly amounts. With ₹1,00,000 already invested, the ₹10,00,000 goal needs ₹9,146.39 a month instead of ₹11,449.24. If what you have is enough on its own, the calculator says so.

There is no reliable figure for crypto. Prices can rise or fall by more than half in a year, so try a cautious rate as well as a hopeful one, and a negative one, to see how much the plan depends on it. To see how uneven years change the result, use the Crypto Compound Growth Calculator.

The Crypto Investment Calculator projects a starting amount and a fixed monthly amount at a steady return. The Crypto DCA Calculator works out the average price of real buys. This one plans backwards from a goal, with a yearly step-up, a goal after tax and the cost of waiting.
